Direction Question: This section of verbal reasoning revolves around the various directions. It consist of questions involving all sort of direction puzzle. Candidate is required to make a successive follow-up of directions and ascertain the final direction or the distance between two points. The test is meant to judge the candidate,s ability to trace and follow correctly and sense the directions correctly.
Directions: There are four basic directions North N, South S, East E, West W and four cardinal directions North East NE, North West NW, South East SE, South West SW to help the candidates know the directions. The figure shows all the directions
Problems Involving Left Turning: These type of questions are solved taking The right and left movement of a person is always with reference to the body moving in the scenario. It is not with respect to the person who is solving the questions.
Example 1 : Deepak starts walking straight towards east. After walking 75 metres, he turns to the left and walks 25 metres straight. Again he turns to the left, walks a distance of 40 metres straight, again he turns to the left and walks a distance of 25 metres. How far is he from the starting point ?
(a) 25 metres (b) 50 metres (c) 115 metres (d) 140 metres (e) None of these

Solution : The movements of Deepak are as shown in fig.
Clearly, EB = DC = 40 m.
Deepak,s distance from the starting point A
= (AB - EB)
= (75 - 40) m = 35 m.
Example 2 : Disha moved 4 km in north direction, then turned towards left and moved 2 km straight , again turned toward left and moved 6km straight . In which direction she is standing from the starting point.

Solution : In the above question, Disha moved 4 km in north direction, then turned towards left and moved 2 km straight , again turned toward left and moved 6km straight.
In the above diagram,it is easily visible that the Disha started from point O and reached Point R, it means she is in southwest direction from the starting point.
Example 3 : Rohan start walk and go in north direction, he covers 30 ft distance and moved towards left direction, then covers the distance of 15ft , after that again he turned towards left and and covers 30 ft distance.What is the distance between the starting point and the end point?
(a) 30 ft (b) 25 ft (c) 20 ft (d) 15 ft (e) 10 ft

Solution : in the above question,Rohan start walk and go in north direction, he covers 30 ft distance and moved towards left direction, then covers the distance of 15ft , after that again he turned towards left and and covers 30 ft distance. So, the distance between the starting point and the end point is 15 ft.
